Meet: Rachel Samson: a food blogger based in the Miami area but originally from Chicago. Samson started @stickaforkinme three and a half years ago. Though her main platform is Instagram with over 315,000 followers, she told us “I have recently started to spend a lot of time on TikTok which has allowed me to try out many new and different content formats.” Rachel posts mouth-watering creations that literally have me drooling.
Photography and food have always been something Rachel has been passionate about. She originally didn’t want to share her creations with the world, “it took a lot of convincing from my friends to give this hobby its own platform – I reluctantly agreed and much to my surprise my following and skills grew and here we are today!”

We wanted to dive deeper into Rachel and her story, here’s what she had to say:
Cox: Why did you want to become an influencer?
Samson: As I mentioned above I sort of just fell into it once I started my page. I spent 13 years in the construction management field and came to a point where I was looking to transition to a new company. That interim time allowed me to throw myself into my hobby and eventually grew into a full time career. Sales and ”influence” always came naturally to me. Back in the day I would help friends promote their nightlife events, and always loved to stay on top of trends. When I realized I could use my creativity to make this a job it immediately became a goal I wanted to achieve.
Cox: Why is your content unique?
Samson: I do a lot of behind-the-scenes video work these days. My content is always changing as my skills grow and as my audience diversifies. I try to show all of the latest and greatest food both where I live and where I travel – But what makes my page unique is that it’s got so much of my personal influence. I try to include a lot of my own life and stay super engaged with my flowers.but what makes my page unique is that it’s got so much of my personal influence. Cox: What led to the success of your influencer career?

Samson: Miami is a very competitive city in the influencer world. It’s a saturated market but one advantage is that many of us have become close friends and help each other to grow. I think that is key to really learn from others as we all move forward.
Cox: What are your goals for the future?
Samson: 2020 has thrown many of us for a loop. At this point I am looking forward to seeing how things bounce back in the hospitality industry – I have had many opportunities arise throughout the course of my influencer career and I’m certain the right one will pop up when I least expect it and take me on to the next level.
Cox: What is your favorite part of being an influencer?
Samson: I love that no day is the same. You never know what’s going to come through via email, when one restaurant closes another one opens! I love the flexibility that I can work from home although that always presents a challenge to stay motivated. I love being in the know of new brands and products rolling out, and actually getting to work with some of these global brands I have grown up with for decades.
Cox: What is your least part of being an influencer?
Samson: The hours! There are days when I work from the moment I open my eyes until close them. I think people underestimate how hard we actually work. From managing our brand collaborations to editing and paperwork to answering DMs and shooting content – it’s a lot! But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
