The star was born to Lotta Kristine Johanna and Ulf Christian Kjellberg. He was raised in Gothenburg, Sweden with his older sister fanny.

The star chose the name PewDiePie for a reason. He has explained that ‘Pew’ represents the sound of a laser and ‘Die’ represents death. He initially registered his account as PewDie in 2006 but forgot his password. This led to the creation of the second account, PewDiePie in 2010.

His new channel grew tremendously in 2012 reaching the 1 million subscribers mark. His channel held the record for the most subscribed channel on YouTube in 2013. As of January 2021, his channel has amassed over 108 million subscribers and received over 24 billion views.

PewDiePie Is Taking Another Break From YouTube

The star has announced he’d be taking his second ever break from the platform just under a year after taking his first. The star had surprised fans in 2020 when he announced he’d be taking a break from YouTube given that he never missed a single day of uploading videos since he started 10 years ago.

The star has announced on January 8th that he’ll be taking a leave of absence from the platform. This only confirms his earlier statements in 2020 when he was seen on countless occasions telling his fans that he’d take a holiday in 2021.

“I feel like it’s fair. Any other job you get holidays and I don’t do that. And this year has been pretty crazy. It’s good for my mental health”, the star had explained in June. The question on everyone’s mind now is when the star would return from his vacation.

Peed’s last break had lasted roughly 37 days, from January 15th to February 21st. The star has however left no clue as to when he’ll be returning to the platform. In a Minecraft stream on January 6th, PewDiePie was obviously undecided about his return to the fold.

“I might not stream for a while either, just to take some full time off, and come back fully charged. So I’ll be offline for a week, two weeks, maybe three weeks. I don’t know. I know it’s kind of a ball-buster to end here, but I don’t really take breaks and I feel like I just need it. So…” he said.

While the star has left many questions unanswered with his post, we do hope to see him back at his earliest convenience.
