The release date for GTA 6 has not been announced yet, but with the tremendous success recorded by other installments of GTA as well as GTA online, it is logical to say that it’s only a matter of time before Rockstar unveils the sixth edition of its Grand Theft Auto game. If you are not conversant with Grand Theft Auto, you should know that it’s only one of the best action-adventure games there is in the gaming world.

What Is GTA?

Grand Theft Auto or GTA for short is a series of action-adventure games that have been created by David Jones and Mike Dailly. The game is basically put together by Rockstar, a British development house, and published by Rockstar Games.

The gameplay is focused on an open world where the player can complete missions to uncover an overall storyline. A player can also engage in various side missions. Most of the gameplay is focused on driving around and shooting, with time-to-time role-playing and stealth elements.

GTA was the first series to be released in October 1997 for Windows and MS-DOS computers. It was later introduced on Playstation in 1998 and Game Boy Color in 1999. GTA 2 was unveiled in 1999 for Microsoft Windows and later to Playstation and Game Boy. The game has continued to build on its success with various new series which are always back-to-back hits.

When Is GTA 6 Going to be Released?

For now, the gaming company is yet to even comment if there is going to be a sixth edition of the game. However, if rumors and hunches are anything to go by, coupled with the fact that Rockstar’s Official Support account has told its fans to stay tuned, then it is safe to assume that a sixth edition is on the cards.

Yes GTA 6 is being developped. No it’s not coming soon. No I don’t know when it’s gonna be announced or released.

You can stop asking now.

Going by a Kotaku report, as of April 2020, a new GTA series was already in its early development stages. The report also suggested that fans should perhaps expect a smaller launch while the game will continue to be expanded via updates in the manner of a GTA online or an MMO.

This hints that the game could be a PS5 and Xbox series X release. With the gaming company releasing a remastered GTA 5 for PS5 in 2021, it, therefore, means that we could be waiting for another year to see a possible release of GTA 6.

The latest alleged GTA 6 leak has been tipped to come from Reddit. Reddit user JackOLantern1982 has revealed at least 23 details regarding Rockstar’s alleged upcoming game. The leak confirms that the game is in development under the code name Project Americas. It also reveals that the game will take place in several countries which may include Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Vice City in the US.

What Does Rockstar Have To Say About The Sixth Edition?

JackOLantern’s leak also confirms a teaser that was revealed by Rockstar North’s former President. The former president said in 2013 that “We don’t know what GTA 6 will be, but we’ve got some ideas,” said Benzies in the interview. “We’ve got about 45 years’ worth of ideas we want to do. We’ll pick the right ones. It comes from the idea first. Where it is going to be set is the first question. That then defines the missions; you’re doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the mission in.”

Although former president Benzies didn’t give away much, it is safe to conclude that the game development is well underway and could be released at any point in time from 2022 onwards. Fans and pundits will be eager to get their hands on the new release which may drop at any time. As with other editions, we expect Rockstar Games to unveil a teaser of the next series in the not too distant future.
