Beca Antunes is The Teen Social Media Manager Taking Wedding Creatives & Photographers to The Next Level – Teen Blurb

At only 19 years of age, Beca Antunes is paving the way for other teen entrepreneurs. A rising star amongst the ranks of social media managers, Beca is showing the world that being an entrepreneur can occur at any age. Always dreaming of being her own boss, Beca has done what many twice her age have always struggled to do – creating a career out of their passions. Studying a degree in psychology, Beca has combined this with her love of photography and social media to fulfil a growing need. Being uniquely positioned to offer a social media strategy that understands human psychology and bias, Beca has been able to build quite an impressive portfolio of clients by ensuring their needs can be met across social platforms.

Starting her own business in the middle of the pandemic, Beca has seen her income double in just 3 months. With her expertise using Pinterest and as a blogger, Beca has used her ability to build strong relationships with others for her clients, growing their platforms and making them more visibly known, liked and trusted. We caught up with Beca to gain more insight into the amazing path she has created for herself, and what we can expect from her in the future.

Q: Thanks again for taking the time to do this with me. First things first – I am sure our readers

would love to learn more about you. How did you get here? What experiences, failures, setbacks or

challenges have been most instrumental to your growth?

Beca:

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me! I am a 19 year old college student, studying Psychology. I have always worked from home for a company, but wasn’t for myself. I knew I wanted a job with lots of flexibility to work on my own schedule, travel, and provide me with financial peace. I found out about this opportunity through seeing some tik toks. At first, I though it wasn’t gonna get me anywhere and would be stupid to try, but then decided to take little steps to push myself out of my comfort zone and give it a shot. It has been a crazy journey and all of the experiences I’ve had with it have influenced my growth. I would say that having coaches by my side helped a lot, as well as having clients that might have not worked out. It helped me know who I wanted to work with and what kind of services I wanted to provide.

Q: Just like the readers I am very curious – can you explain what you do and who you serve?

Beca:

Sure! I am a Social Media Manager. I help wedding creatives and photographers with their pinterest, instagram, and blogs so that they can attract more clients and grow their business, with the right strategies.

Q: As a lot of people in your industry are many years older than you & you’re only 19,  what made you want to get into the world of social media management so young? Do you have any advice for others with similar aspirations on how to get started?

Beca:

I didn’t want to wait any longer. I believe that if you have a goal and a dream, you need to go after it and work for it, no matter what age that might be. I know what I want my life to look like in the next couple of years, so I wanted to start working towards that dream now. Also, I feel like I already spent a good chunk of my days on social media, so I knew social media management would be perfect. My advice to anyone with similar aspirations and wanting to get started is to go for it! Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re too young or not qualified. You are more than capable and believe in yourself. Think about your future self and how grateful you’ll be that you are starting out on your dreams.

Q: What are the key steps you have taken to grow your business? What advice do you have for

others on how to take their businesses to the next level?

Beca:

Key steps I have taken to grow my business to the next level have been investing in education and coaches and making my own research on upscaling my business. Investing is very scary, trust me, I was terrified. But trust me when I say, it is essential. My advice is to invest! DOn’t be scared to ask for help, we are not expected to know everything right off the bat. You will need help and it will be scary, but if you put the work in and try to do things on your end as well, it will work! Also, when investing, do your research before investing! Make sure you are putting your money where you will get the value in return.

Q: Can you share the funniest or most interesting story that happened to you since you started as a social media manager?

Beca:

Hm, I don’t know if I’ve had a super funny or interesting story yet but I think the most interesting so far has been someone pretending to need help with their business but turned out it was just a very old man trying to find sugar babies. Needless to say, stay safe everyone and don’t waste your time.

Q: Haha wow. It’s a crazy world out there! What are other sales, marketing and social media tips, strategies and tactics of value to fellow Social media managers and entrepreneurs?

Beca:

Engage with your audience! Making genuine connections goes a long way. Don’t ghost someone if they declined working with you at first, if that is the case, they will not come back later on if they do decide to hire more help on their team. Also, be aware of the algorithm for the platforms you are focusing on. It always changes and it’s important to keep up with them for your business and your clients. Lastly, try to plan out your content in advance. EVen if it’s not in detail, it still helps having an idea in mind of what you want to put out there, it’s important to be consistent and show your audience that you are active.

Q:: In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?

Beca:

It is not an easy journey, but it is beyond worth it — don’t let yourself stand in the way of your dreams and go for it!

Thanks so much for doing this with me. Wishing you all the best for the future!
